Job Summary: As a Machine Tool Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of new industrial machine tools. Your responsibilities will include powering up machines, conducting performance tests, identifying malfunctions, making necessary adjustments and repairs, and installing requested accessories and parts. With your expertise, you will contribute to the successful preparation and delivery of machines to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms by starting machines and turning handwheels, knobs, or handles.

• Test machine performance and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions.

• Inspect machine accuracy during operation and make adjustments as necessary.

• Dismantle machines to remove defective parts and perform repairs or replacements.

• Install special accessories and structural parts as requested by customers, ensuring proper positioning and securing.

• Coordinate with the internal Parts Department or complete purchase order forms to obtain necessary parts or accessories.

• Connect electrical voltage as ordered by customers, following electrical diagrams.

• Utilize hand or power tools to perform duties related to run-out and preparation of new machinery, occasionally requiring overhead reaching for extended periods.

• Utilize machine tools or files for fabricating or shaping brackets or other parts as needed.

• Maintain regular attendance and be available to work on a consistent basis.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

• Over 1 year of related experience and/or training.

• 
  

Skills and Qualifications:

• Effective verbal communication skills when interacting with management and colleagues.

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Fluency in the English language, both in speaking and written communication.

• Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, and percentages.

• Strong reasoning ability to comprehend and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Ability to handle problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

• No special computer skills required.

• Forklift license and crane license are preferred.

• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

• Mechanical aptitude and a keen ability to learn and retain information.

• Electrical experience, welding experience, or sheet metal experience are helpful.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, use hands to handle, finger, or feel, and reach and carry objects with hands and arms.

• Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required.

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, including drug test, vision test, audiogram, and lift test.

Work Environment:

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and a potential risk of electrical shock.

• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, explosives, and vibration.

• Work environment noise level is usually loud.
