Job Opportunity: Experienced Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Position: Inventory/Receiving Specialist

Position Purpose:

Are you an experienced and reliable professional in the field of shipping and receiving? We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory/Receiving Specialist to join our team at [Company Name]. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the movement of a wide variety of parts, materials, and products throughout our organization. Your meticulous documentation and verification skills will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our inventory management process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As an Inventory/Receiving Specialist, you will be an integral part of our logistics team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating material moving equipment, such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and dollies, to transport products and materials to their designated locations.

  • Loading and unloading materials in our warehouses and storage facilities.

  • Receiving incoming materials and meticulously comparing them against purchase orders to guarantee delivery accuracy.

  • Participating in the thorough routing, counting, and inspection of items during the loading and unloading of trucks, and managing deliveries and returns.

  • Conducting precise counts and measurements of parts to ensure quantity accuracy, promptly addressing discrepancies with vendors.

  • Issuing materials to various departments upon request, including transacting inventory quantities and delivering parts to designated work areas.

  • Monitoring inventory levels and promptly reporting any quantity discrepancies to supervisors or managers.

  • Utilizing computerized or automated systems to efficiently execute tasks.

  • Fulfilling other assigned duties as needed.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualities:

  • Profound knowledge of principles and processes related to providing exceptional internal customer service, including needs assessment, maintaining service quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify complex issues, analyze relevant information, develop and assess potential solutions, and implement effective resolutions.

  • Sound judgment in determining the appropriate tools and equipment required to complete tasks successfully.

Qualifications / Prior Experience:

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • 2 or more years of relevant inventory or shipping/receiving experience; OR, an equivalent combination of experience and/or education demonstrating comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Basic proficiency in math, reading, and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge or prior experience with an ERP system to facilitate efficient inventory management.

  • Understanding of safety practices in a warehouse environment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The demands of the role include:

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing between 25 to 50 lbs.

  • Continuous ability to walk, talk, sit, stand, and communicate verbally throughout the scheduled shift.

  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary.

  • Work in a non-climate-controlled facility with moderate noise levels.
